As part of our ongoing "Getting to Know Your Local Businesses" series, this week we sat down with Michelon Thompson, Campus Director!

Tell us a bit about your business: What does your business offer, and how long have you been
Around? For the last 11 years, as a community, iSchool High-The Woodlands has worked to provide hope by challenging each student with an early college, mastery-based, and blended-learning curriculum while increasing the opportunities to earn college credits up to an Associate of Arts (AA) degree.

How did you decide to get involved in this line of work? How did the business get started?
In order to efficiently meet our goals here on campus (at all levels), we must have a passion to help and teach students, be adaptable, yet creative and dynamic with our ways of supporting our students. We have a multitude of students that graduate with their Associates degrees before obtaining their High school diploma,
allowing/encouraging them to obtain higher education.

Tell us a couple things you are proud of about your business. What are you known for? What
separates you from the competition?
We take great pride in our partnerships with all stakeholders, the growth, and success rates of our students. iSchool High- The Woodlands is known for our highly cultivated,
student-centered culture!

What is your favorite part of running this business? Building a community where students are the center of our focus!

Who is your ideal customer/client? Who do you serve best? All families that have the desire to both learn and take their education to the next level!

Can you tell us something about yourself as the business owner? What is your background?
I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. I graduated from Humble High School and received my degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. I have been married for 9 years, with a beautiful daughter. When I am not working, my family takes up the majority of my time, but some of my hobbies include sports, traveling, and arts & crafts!
This is my 9th year here at iSchool High- The Woodlands (5 years as a teacher/ 2 years as Administration). I have had the pleasure of teaching both math and science over the course of my teaching career; and share that classroom experience now as an Administrator! Although it can be challenging, I LOVE high schoolers, the opportunity that I have to showcase my passion for helping others, and the impact they have on my
life and what I have on their lives!

Are there any special promotions, annual sales, or special events that you’d like to mention?
We offer the opportunity to obtain an Associates degree free of charge!

How do you see your business growing and improving over the next couple of years?
Our iSchool model is the future! Our hopes are to continue to spread the word and
knowledge of innovative, blended learning!

iSchool High- The Woodlands will be hosting 2 parent interest nights: Nov 30th and Dec 5th from 6-7pm.
