As part of our ongoing "Getting to Know Your Local Businesses" series, we sat down this week with Jeremy and Angela Laurence, owners of Air Woodlands Air Conditioning and Heating.
Tell us a bit about your business: What does your business offer, and how long have you been around?
Air Woodlands is a family-owned Air Conditioning and Heating company that has provided residential and light commercial HVAC services for over 40 years.
Air Woodlands is known for keeping their customers comfortable in their homes by making sure their A/C and Heating systems are working properly, through repair and preventative maintenance. They also provide new installations when required, using the top-rated brands in the industry.
How did the business get started? Air Woodlands was founded in 1978 by Sam Dillon, who learned to repair AC systems when he was working for a real estate inspection company. In 2011, Jeremy partnered with Sam to run the business together. Sam and Jeremy worked side by side, continuing to grow the business and provide fast, efficient, and honest service for seven years. "I feel confident and happy to turn my business over to Jeremy. I feel my business is in good hands, that he will continue to run it with the same care and attention that I have, and I feel he will be a great success," Sam said, when he began to step away from the business and let Jeremy take the lead in 2018.
Tell us a couple of things that you are proud of about your business. What are you known for? What separates you from the competition?
One of the most important things for Jeremy in running his business is honesty. In the past, he worked for companies where the owners pushed to sell equipment. Jeremy and his team believe in looking out for their customers and finding a way to repair the system, rather than replace it whenever possible. He will gladly give a second opinion free of charge. Jeremy and his team will talk to the customer as long as it takes to make sure they have an understanding of the diagnosis and what needs to be done. His goal is to help the customer and he does everything he can to make them happy.
What is your favorite part of running this business?
For Angela, her favorite part is watching Jeremy thrive in the business and the joy he gets from being able to help people. She loves seeing him realize his dream of running his own business and doing something he wasn’t sure was possible.
For Jeremy, his favorite part is meeting new people, making friends with his customers, and being able to save them time and money. Jeremy and Angela also both enjoy working with their team of technicians, Chase, Jason, Scott, and Robert and administrative assistant, Rebekah.
Who is your ideal customer/client? Who do you serve best?
Residential clients who are in need of repair or maintenance for their A/C or heating system, that are seeking honest and reliable service. Serving The Woodlands, Spring, Tomball, and Conroe areas, Air Woodlands strives to give their clients customized services based upon their specific needs.
Can you tell us something about yourself as the business owner? What is your background? How did you decide to get involved in this line of work?
Angela was a veterinarian technician before meeting Jeremy. She now helps Jeremy run their business, managing the office, with everything from filing to payroll.
Jeremy has been in the industry since he was a young man, working as an AC/Heating technician. He worked for a few other A/C companies until he met Sam. With encouragement, he got his license with his first attempt. In the beginning, Jeremy was a little nervous about running his own business, but now he can’t imagine not being able to wake up every day and feel good about running his own company, but most importantly, doing it the right way.
Are there any special promotions, annual sales, or special events that you'd like to mention?

How do you see your business growing and improving over the next couple of years?
Jeremy and Angela expect to continue to see steady growth through word of mouth and excellent reviews. Jeremy is diligent in staying on top of emerging technology and learning new things through continuing education and visiting brand factories, such as Amana, American Standard, and Mitsubishi Mini Splits.
