As part of our ongoing "Getting to Know Your Local Businesses" series, this week we sat down with Nolan Wilson, owner of Nolan’s Handy Home Repair & Remodeling.

Tell us a bit about your business: What does your business offer, and how long have you been around?
Offering full service contracting, we’re a one-stop shop for all of a homeowner’s and business owner’s renovation and remodeling needs. We’ve been maintaining or updating homes and businesses, from regular maintenance to complete remodels since 2010.
There’s not much we can’t do to repair or improve your home or office and we complete tasks for you at a reasonable price that you can afford!

How did you decide to get involved in this line of work?
Since my dad owned a handyman company, I grew up helping my dad build since I was 14 years old. For several years, I built homes and offices in Orange, Texas.

Eventually, I moved to Kingwood, seeking to become a part of this community.  For several years, I worked for another handyman service company, which later, after I left, went out of business.

Over the years, my company has continued to expand, completing bathroom and kitchen renovations, along with whole home additions, office buildouts and entire custom home builds.

I have always had an eye for detail; in fact, if I see something crooked, I have to fix it. My eye for detail ends up being a blessing for my customers. If I see a problem, I can’t leave until I fix it!

Tell us a couple things you are proud of about your business. What are you known for? What separates you from the competition?
We take pride in completing tasks right the first time; we go above and beyond to exceed our customer’s expectations. If you are looking for professional and reliable men who are honest and trustworthy, you have found the right team.  Every member of our team is well versed in their skill; they handle every aspect of a job as if it were their own home or office.

What is your favorite part of running this business?
I enjoy meeting new people and helping them.
Active in our communities, my team and I like to give back and we take pride in our neighborhoods. We’ve made donations to the civic club, participated in the 4th of July parade every year and waived our fees to help people gut their homes after the hurricane.
I also love the design aspect of our build projects.

Who is your ideal customer/client? Who do you serve best?
Any homeowner or business owner who wants a repair or renovation that is completed right the first time. We’re bonded and insured and we guarantee everything we do!

Is there any other information you'd like your potential customers/clients to know about your business?
We always offer discounts for veterans and promotions on our profile page on TheWoodlandsTX.com. Typically, I also do meet a competitor’s offer, as long as the remodel or renovation project estimate is reasonable.

How do you see your business growing and improving over the next couple of years?
We will continue to strive to complete every project better than our last. As a third of Kingwood flooded from Hurricane Harvey, we as local residents will continue to support our neighbors as they rebuild and remodel their homes.
I’m rooted in this area; I plan to pass my business on to my kids and my kid’s kids.
