As part of our ongoing "Getting to Know Your Local Businesses" series, this week we sat down with Thomas Bolsch of Saddle River Range.

Tell us a bit about your business:  What does your business offer, and how long have you been around?
Saddle River Range is a firearm and archery range with 5000 sq. ft. of retail store. We offer firearm classes as well as a training simulator and archery tag.

How did you decide to get involved in this line of work? How did the business get started?
I was an instructor in the U.S. Secret Service training academy and very much enjoyed teaching students about safe weapon handling and tactics.

Tell us a couple things you are proud of about your business. What are you known for? What separates you from the competition?

We have an incredible staff to include some of the finest archery professionals and instructors in the area.  Saddle River Range has something for everyone.  Guys, gals, young, old beginner or advanced.  We pride ourselves on our clean, safe environment.  We utilize a 100% fresh air HVAC system to minimize the amount of contaminates the shooters may be exposed to.  This is by far the safest and healthiest wat to treat the air in indoor gun ranges.  Also, the food in the Café is outstanding.

What is your favorite part of running this business?
Meeting our guests.  Everyone comes into Saddle River Range for different reasons and it’s great to assist them with the many things we offer.

Who is your ideal customer/client? Who do you serve best?
All of our customers bring a unique perspective but I particularly like to assist people who are unfamiliar with firearms or archery.  We enjoy helping people get started in the shooting sports.

Can you tell us something about yourself as the business owner? What is your background?
Avid shooter, former U.S. Secret Service Agent, love teaching others.

Are there any special promotions, annual sales, or special events that you'd like to mention?
We have too many specials and events to mention but we particularly like to hold events that give back to our military and first responders.

Is there any other information you'd like your potential customers/clients to know about your business?
We are open to the public 7 days a week but offer several different memberships to fit any shooter’s budget. Our prices are extremely competitive on both the range and retail side.

How do you see your business growing and improving over the next couple of years?
As the popularity of shooting sports continues to grow, Saddle River Range will play a large part in the community in both training and practice for the beginner through expert.
