Thank You Veterans - November 11, 2020

Forum Image

Thank you to all the courageous men and women who have served our country.

We are forever indebted to you.

Wishing you a peaceful Veterans Day.

“Today, all across this great nation, we pause to pay tribute to the sacrifices made by our veterans and their families.

Without their bravery and selflessness, we wouldn’t be able to live in a nation that is a beacon of freedom for all.

I can think of few responsibilities more important than our duty to honor the brave men and women who wore our nation’s uniform and to be there for them when they return home.

To all of you, we say: thank you for protecting our nation and defending the dearly won gift of liberty.

We salute you, and may God Bless you.”

- U.S. Senator Ted Cruz

@cabeuser : LOL, speaking of cajun, I had to work with an older sailor on our ship, I was 18, he was a long timer in his 30's and he got me hooked on old country music, Hank Williams. Loved his Hank Williams. Me, at 18 right out of high school from here in The Woodlands, I didn't know anything about cajuns, lol. It was a fun 2 weeks working with him.

@WoodlandsSparky : My dad shipmates called him Frenchy. He was the only Cajun on his ship and to make it worse he was always seasick. They had pictures of him that his shipmates drew with him leaning over the side of the boat. When he passed he left all of his memoirs in a box. I found letters from Australian ladies that he had dated, Old playbills, coins from Southeast Asia, and so many of the memoirs about crossing the dateline. I'm glad you got to experience hanging out with a true Cajun. It certainly had to be an experience for a young Woodlands guy.

@cabeuser : Yep, it was an experience, lol, in a great way. The best thing about being on a ship with 400+ men from all over the USA, you learn so much about the USA that never could get taught in a history class in school.

I also had a bunch of souvenirs from all over the place. I'd buy something from every port we hit. A lot of foreign money as well. I still have some packed away somewhere.

Good looking man.. how awful he was seasick, that's a horrible feeling.... I have to say those Cajuns were wonderful people, they had the best hearts of anyone in the USA, .. and by far the best food in America.
