No, not really cheesecake. More like an east coast diner.

I have never really left Texas for any significant amount of time, I am unaware of what an east coast diner would be like. Anything around here, more popular that you can compare?

I guess it's more of a breakfast/lunch/dinner menunlike dennys or ihop, but not a chain. There is a diner in Magnolia (Magnolia diner) that's kind of like that.

You never know who you will run into or rub elbows with in places like House of PIes.

three senior engineers from Texas Instruments sat down to dinner at a House of Pies on Westheimer Road in Houston. Rod Canion, James Harris and William Murto each had $1000 to invest. They discussed the possibility of managing a Mexican restaurant, making storage devices for minicomputers or, perhaps, a beeping device to help locate lost items. Instead, on the back of a HOP placemat, they did their initial sketch of an IBM-compatible PC that was small enough to be transportable. In the days before technology allowed for components to be shrunk to 'laptop' size, the Compaq luggable had its first design.

What came to mind with the name House of Pies ..sweet pies...looking at the menu I think your out of luck...British Depot in Magnolia sell frozen Steak and Ale,Steak and Kidney, sausage rolls..all made from scratch..
Don’t think eateries here have many meat pies on the menu, seems more a Britt or Aussie thing.

@Moonlight : Have to try that out!! You're making me ravenously hungry and it's not even 7a yet. Have you tried Boomerang's in Austin, TX? They're Aussie too and they have such a wide & interesting variety of pies. I used to enjoy eating there.

@orangutan They have meat pies??? I looked over the menu, refreshing myself with their offerings and I did not notice a meat pie. Something for everyone is a good thing.

Is the meat pie you are talking about similar or identical to a pot pie, chicken pot pie, beef pot pie? It has meat, veggies, and liquids encased in a top and bottom crust.

The meat pies I am thinking of are not like pot pies ...they do not have a soup type of filling along with the meat etc....they are more dry you can pick them up in your hands and eat them if you wanted to.....I have seen lots of POT pies here....Frankie this subject is giving us lots of credits...who would have thought pies could be such a conversational piece 😂😂😂😂

This is what I was thinking of.. Some can have a tiny more soupy fill, but still hand held .
