MCHD Impact Awarded to Crew For Saving A Life
Last week, we had the pleasure of reuniting with Jeff Munson, who is doing amazingly well after suffering a massive stroke.
Just five weeks before the reunion, Jeff collapsed in his home.
His dog actually alerted his wife, CarrieRae, that something was wrong.
She called 911 and MCHD dispatcher Madison Deats took the call and accurately confirmed a stroke activation.
Soon after, paramedics Micheal Fischer and Mike Joublanc joined North Montgomery County Fire Department firefighters Joseph Murphy, Byron Velasquez, and Nicholas Whitney at the Munson home.
In stroke care, TIME IS EVERYTHING.
The crews quickly transported Jeff to a comprehensive stroke center where he was taken immediately into surgery to remove the blood clots causing the stroke.
When crews arrived at his home, Jeff couldn’t move or speak.
Just minutes after the surgery, Jeff was sitting up and talking!
It’s amazing what modern medicine can accomplish when everyone does their part.
Thank you, Jeff (Gunny) and CarrieRae for reaching out to honor the crews!
MCHD Command Staff presented everyone on this call the MCHD Impact Award for excellence in patient care.
Great outcomes like this one is why it’s all worth it!
