Thank You Pet Rehab And Recovery
Montgomery County Animal Shelter is so thankful for their rescue partners.
Today MCAS wants to highlight Pet Rehab & Recovery.
Pet Rehab and Recovery is an organization that raises money to provide treatment and care for shelter animals whose injuries/illnesses go beyond the scope of what is available in the shelter.
Previously, severely injured animals who found themselves in a shelter would have to rely on rescue organizations to take them before they could be treated but with Pet R&R, animals can be treated while still under the care of the shelter.
Following treatment the dog (or cat) will be fostered through the shelter or will be placed with a rescue.
Their most recent case of ours has been Spencer:
This gorgeous yellow lab mix found himself scared and in serious trouble after what MCAS can only assume was having been hit by a car.
A good Samaritan stopped to render aid and animal control brought Spencer safely to Montgomery County Animal Shelter.
The doctors and staff immediately tended to his needs, obtained radiographs and found that his right femur was completely broken.
The femur is the largest bone in the body and Spencer was, undoubtedly, in agony.
That didn't stop his kind personality from shining through after some pain medication and a comfortable place to rest.
His fracture has already been repaired thanks to the great teamwork between MCAS and Houston Mobile Veterinary Surgery.
Thankfully, Spencer continues to heal and make great strides in his recovery.
MCAS can't say thank you enough to our surgeon for getting this kiddo fixed so quickly!
He is now in a foster home and getting ready to find his forever family.
Pet Rehab and Recovery is looking to raise $800 to cover the remaining cost of Spencer's orthopedic surgery.
