The Woodlands Incorporation Study

Loading Image...

For the past decade, The Woodlands Township has conducted three different studies looking at the financial impact Incorporation would have on residents.

The election has been called for incorporation after holding more than 50 meetings in the past three years to discuss the best the form of government for The Woodlands.

On Nov. 2, 2021, The Woodlands residents will vote on whether The Woodlands should remain a Township or become the City of The Woodlands.

I'll decide sometime before 2057, since it is "possible" after that time to be annexed to Houston (according to the infographic...though not true if recent legislation is to be believed). But for now, I do not see the compelling reason to rush into incorporating into a city, especially during an "off-year" election when not enough people are paying attention to make an informed vote, or vote at all.

I could be convinced to vote for incorporation in some future election, but not this year.

1 The County where we currently pay our taxes gives us the over 65 exemption
2. I have read and been informed that the directors budget is inaccurate and there is not enough money allocated for police protection and patrol cars which means they will have to raise taxes.
3. We are rated number 1 in the country to live and number 3 in the country to retire to so why fix what is not broken
4. We have no threat of annexation since we have until 2057 and it has to be passed by majority of the vote by the residents.

Wonder why my tax dollars are being spent to push an agenda that I don't want. There is no city in this state that is as well run as the woodlands.
If there is even a slight chance that incorporation might have a negative impact then it should be voted down. There has never been an incorporation vote of this magnitude in Texas. It has risk written all over it. Shame on the board for pushing this to the ballot two months before the vote in an odd election year.
