The Woodlands Recycles How Many TONS Of Material?

Forum Image

The Woodlands recycles 13,000 tons of material a year!

Recycling saves resources, prevents pollution, supports public health and creates jobs.

Help keep the recycling program successful by only recycling the accepted items, never bagging your recyclables, and keeping plastic bags out of your cart.

Please follow these guidelines to ensure proper recycling of materials:
www.thewoodlandstown ship-tx.gov/185/Recy cling-Guidelines

*Only the listed items are accepted; all others are contaminants:
www.thewoodlandstown ship-tx.gov/Document Center/View/13461/Co mmon-Contaminan

All other items damage sorting equipment and jeopardize worker safety.

*No plastic bags or film.

*Do not bag recyclables; leave them loose.

*Only clean paper; no food stains or grease.

*Empty and rinse containers and cans.

Want to recycle MORE?

Although they cannot be processed through the curbside cart program, some materials such as plastic bags, Styrofoam, batteries, light bulks and MORE can be recycled by local businesses.

Check out the Recycle More Guide for a list of accepted items and locations:

To report a missed pickup, schedule bulky trash or cardboard pickup, or request a cart repair, please contact Waste Management at 1(800)-800-5804.

The real question is how many of those tons are actually recycled and become usable materials?
I heard after China stopped importing recycles some years ago, most of our recycles go to landfill directly...
