Social Media Don'ts When Traveling

Loading Image...

When you’re super excited about a trip or vacation, it’s really easy to get carried away when it comes to posting on social media.

Whether you use Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, it’s important that you take proper precautions when it comes to your social media habits.

If you’re not careful online, you could make your home a target for burglary.

Believe it or not, burglars use social media to figure out which houses to target.

These simple tips can help prevent your home from being burglarized while you’re on vacation.

@iamgr8 : You are right! You can be the language teacher.
But I think if somebody can get this close to you on social media, they are probably very close to you in real life already. They know where you live, when you let your dogs out or have a walk. So when you are gone, they know...

@FairManor : i would agree with you on that. i would also say that people are so eager to post their photos about everything (some for bragging/showing off, some for innocent reasons like memories etc) that even someone not close to them would be able to figure it out. unfortunately people don't realize how easy it is to figure out where you live, what you like, when you're home, etc. the "victims" establish their own timelines by posting so much of their life on social media it's easy to follow. my daughter wanted to argue with me about social media posts and i "posed" as someone else and figured everything out about her just through the internet. there's always some sort of "footprint" left behind.

@iamgr8 : You are right. But I think the main concern should be retaliation related, such as when somebody is just mad at you for whatever reason because of your social media postings. So an empty house is really secondary.
