Consider The Need Of The Breed
Montgomery County Animal Shelter always encourages you to do your homework when it comes to adopting a dog.
Some breeds have different needs and tendencies than others.
Age, breed, size, your work schedule, your desire to train or exercise them- all things that should be considered before adopting any dog!
A cattle dog will have herding tendencies, and that can include the little ones in your home or other pets.
They need a job- even small ones that will require training and interactive play time each day to satiate their minds.
That Husky mix is simply beautiful, but have you considered the work and cost it takes to groom regularly, or the personality tendencies of those breeds?
They need daily exercise to whittle away boredom.
A shepherd is certainly an amazing dog- have you thought about their energy level?
Their genetic desire to work?
Their exercise or training needs?
Do a little homework before you adopt to make sure you’re being fair to both yourself and the animal you choose!
MCAS greatest hope is for successful adoptions- and at MCAS there are plenty of staff and volunteers who will help match you with the perfect pup that fits your lifestyle!
