On November 15, 2020, deputies with Constable Mark Herman's Office and the Harris County Medical Examiners Office responded to the 5499 block of FM 1960 in reference to a fatality crash.

Upon deputies arriving, it was discovered that the victim was traveling westbound on FM 1960 when a vehicle traveling eastbound turned into a private parking lot and struck the victim causing him to be ejected from his motorcycle and onto the roadway.

A black SUV possibly a Lincoln Navigator traveling on FM 1960 then struck the victim on the roadway and did not stop to render aid.

"The investigation continues to identify the driver of the black SUV.

If you have any information regarding this case, you are urged to contact our dispatch at 281-376-3472." - Constable Mark Herman

Generally, I don't trust people on motorcycles/bicycles side by side with cars. This morning on my way to work, there is a guy on bicycle holds up one lane traffic for a mile on FM 2978...
Do I care if he got hit by one of the cars passing him?

@FairManor : We are trying to get a bicycle lane put on this road on FM 2978. Widening is scheduled... someday.
The bikes get a lane. But they are invisible to most drivers.

@FairManor : So you do not care an innocent person lost their life.....just because he was on a motorcycle???

WOW!! And most accidents are caused by cars not paying attention, not the motorcyclists.

@David48 : People are too busy texting and/or distracted ,or drunk driving or driving while high on drugs.

Bicyclers do have right to use use the road and should practice courtesy by stay to the right of road. However the state of the shoulders or the trash to the side of the road can make that impractical. Consideration and patience are needed on both sides. At least one does not the sometimes under muffled engine exhaust or the weaving through traffic between cars.

@Pedal2go : Bikers have a perfectly legal right to being on the roadways, at there own peril, having said that, bikers should also follow the same rules as drivers of vehicles......rules of the road, not sliding thru stop signs, cutting across lanes and slowing down traffic purposely, move to side of road, to allow faster moving (speed limit) vehicles to pass safely, not riding in the middle of the roadway........

I agree with all should be careful....but never saying the moto or cycle driver is always at fault and deserves to be hit.

I follow all the traffic rules except sometimes I would not stop at stop signs if there is no traffic or if drivers are nice enough to let me go first. Starting and stopping on a bicycle will slow down traffic since there is limited "horse power" to accelerate. I thank the motorists who is understanding and gives me right of way first.

@DEEDEE8 : Well, when you let 100 cars passing you, YOU increased the chance to get killed by one car 100 times! It's YOUR decision, not any of those 100 car drivers.

@Pedal2go : Me too. But I always prefer cars to go first to be safer.

@FairManor : Well true it can be very dangerous riding with cars around and I will not say the bicyclists do not scare me sometimes, but I do not get angry, I try to be extra careful. Anger does no good, road rage is a bad thing.

And to say you do not care if they get hit???? Again...WOW.

It's not road rage: it's road smart!
