Tips On Preventing Mosquito Bites

Do you walk the dog, garden, eat outside, or recreate outdoors?

The mosquitoes that carry West Nile Virus are more active at dusk, dark, and the early dawn hours.

Consider changing your routine if you are normally outdoors during these times, or create a barrier by covering up skin with long sleeves and pants.

I have a petty complaint. They sprayed yesterday morning at 6: 30 am....seriously!!!!

People are out walking down the pathways being fogged LOLLLL. Really not funny though since the chemicals cause cancer for goodness sake. Could they not spray at 2 or 3 am. So many people are getting ready to leave for work early in the mornings.

And then they say do not go out with the foggers coming through for at least an hour or 2. The whole thing seems dumb to me.

And they are spraying tomorrow morning again and Sunday, whether they say so or not we must have human cases not just West Nile positive mosquitoes. They have not sprayed this much in the whole 20 years I have lived in TW.

@TheWoodlandsTXDotCom : I called and they said it is more convenient for them to spray in the morning that later at night because they have families and children. Does not matter that other people have families on the pathways early in the mornings? TW does not care about that? Plus people are walking their dogs and it is very toxic to pets.

Plus it does not even work. I remember when they used to spray years ago, it did not even work at all. But at least they did it late at night instead of first thing in the morning!

Okay, I am done with my soapbox. I'm out.

They have not sprayed in many years. I guess there are a lot of mosquitoes that are West Nile positive. Even when they sprayed it does nothing, we still have the same amount of mosquitoes, you would not notice a difference trust me.

So many things causing cancers in our environment.

I always spray my own yard, at least once every couple of weeks during the season. I tried pretty much everything and just couldn't find anything else more effective than spraying.

@DEEDEE8 :

People love a quick fix in everything ... let's spray the mosquitos with our toxic chemicals, so we can barbecue our toxic meat, so our bodies can get nice and fat and store our toxic waste, then we can go to the doctors with our home grown diseases and build more hospitals to make more profit... doesn't anyone care about future generations and the earth..no it's all about ME and my comfort ... nature will have the last laugh, it's only just started having a giggle.

@Starlight13 : Thank goodness one person gets what I am saying LOL. That makes me feel better. The medical industry LOVES it all for sure. All they see is more $$$$$$$$$$. The more diseases the more they make,

I can make you feel better too: there are still plenty "natural" mosquitoes with malaria, dengue, West Nile virus, chikungunya, yellow fever, filariasis, tularemia, dirofilariasis, Japanese encephalitis, Saint Louis encephalitis, Western equine encephalitis, Eastern equine encephalitis, Venezuelan equine encephalitis, Ross River fever, Barmah Forest fever, La Crosse encephalitis, and Zika fever, as well as newly detected Keystone virus and Rift Valley fever. All 100% natural!... Emoticon
In other words, you still have plenty of nature to enjoy!

@FairManor :
Zika is rare, less than 1000 cases a year, it's usually sexually transmitted in pregnant women .. so abstain during Zika season better than spraying.
