Oh my God, this is insane. They obviously were on the lookout for unlocked doors, possibly trying every house on the block. It's not like they just randomly stumbled upon this unlocked door. Troubling indeed! Keep your doors locked!
We wouldn't need to install more cameras if the laws were stricter for these offenses...they have no fear and keep on doing it...why on earth don't we put them to work on chain gangs again, real hard endless work might help, not only that would help society, could possibly build affordable housing for the poor and homeless, repair roads, it's endless what they could do.. instead of a light sentence or in prison getting free food, medical and stronger for when they come out, to repeat all over again.
Well, without cameras, they know the chance they will get caught is very slim (unless they kill somebody). I don't know if you checked the house, it's a pretty good one with long driveway entrance. I'd put iron gates/entrance key pads/sensors/security cameras there with blinking lights. So they'd turn around and go to neighbor's house instead.

Wow, this is insane and unsettling. There was a video posted on Ring near our house in Spring that someone was walking up to the front door and checking under mats for keys. People are bold and it is scary!
FairManor : I'm thinking of Arlo Pro. Do you have any other recommendations?
@RedPanda : I set up mine 10 years ago, so the brand I am using (Logitech) already stop making. You can check reviews to see if those are good for your purpose. In general, I don't like any one that doesn't allow you to record yourself (it charge you a monthly fee to record for you). Also buy and setup some fake ones first, they will function as good as real ones in most cases, just like some fake ADT yard signs...
