This year's Sales Tax Holiday is this weekend, August 10 - 12. As in previous years, the law exempts most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks priced less than $100 from sales and use taxes, which could save shoppers about $8 on every $100 they spend. Below are specific items and the category they fall under.

@TheWoodlandsTXDotCom :

The handkerchief bit is funny... no one uses them anymore only me , and I can't find them to save my life .

@TheWoodlandsTXDotCom : When I have gone in the past, it seems like the stores don't put things on sale as much during that weekend because they know that people already feel like they are saving by not paying taxes.

I do hope that this weekend is successful for the brick and mortar stores. They have really lost a lot of business. Speaking of online stores, are they tax exempt this weekend, also?

@plymouth : Online retailers shouldn't be collecting sales tax on eligible items this weekend, either, according to the state.

@Strofan : Thanks, I was wondering about that. I might be shopping this weekend, then.

@plymouth : That's interesting. I was living in Georgia when tax-free weekends first became a thing and stores had amazing sales specifically for that weekend. I wonder if it's a difference in areas or if things have just changed over the years. I rarely shop on tax-free weekend b/c I hate the crowds; same reason I pass on Black Friday sales

@TwinTexansFan : Maybe it's just the stores I am interested in. I haven't checked all or even a majority of stores.
