Hello! My name is CJBrock1.
A little about me: I just relocated from the Seattle area a week ago to be closer to my daughter and grandsons. They also moved from Washington last year and love living in the Woodlands community. The kids are thriving in school and I am very excited to settle in and make this neighborhood my new home. Looking for recommendations on places to live and places to meet new people.

Hello! My name is CJBrock1. Looking for recommendations on places to live and places to meet new people.

@CJBrock1 : No one can really help you, not knowing your budget. Are you looking for a house, apartment, town home? Are you wanting to move inside The Woodlands or outside area around TWs? Do you need to be near shopping areas where it is busy or are you wanting a more peaceful quiet area? Your best bet is to contact a realtor.

Thanks for your reply. I will contact a realtor, this isn't a forum for disclosing that level of specifics. Rather, I thought if someone is willing to share what is must see or must do, it might give me a great start at learning my way around.

@CJBrock1 : Welcome! Can I take your place in Seattle or Washington where your kids lived lol? I am sure it is beautiful there.

I am sure you will like TW okay.

You would not have to disclose your budget here, maybe just what kind of area you are looking for, etc. You may not know enough about the area yet though. I am sure a local realtor can help you.

Good luck!

Looking for recommendations on places to live

@CJBrock1 : "Looking for recommendations on places to live". Well, you did ask, lol. As for places, check out the Market Street area, take a free ride on the trolley. Head south on 45 about 4 miles and check out Old Town Spring.

As the trees hide a lot- find at least 3 grocery stores and gas stations to get familiar with. That is the first thing I had trouble finding 😁

How cool that you are able to move here to live closer to your grands! I believe all of The Woodlands is a good place. If you prefer a walking community you will want to live close to The Market Street area. If that's not your preference or not in your budget, each Village within The Woodlands has it's own personality. I live in Alden Bridge and love it. It's an easy drive to the "front" of The Woodlands and an easier drive to the Magnolia area in the "back" of The Woodlands. You will find housing prices per sq ft vary in each Village/neighborhood. That is why budget is a big part of the equation. Welcome to Texas and good luck in your home search. Let me know if you need assistance, I am happy to help.

@CJBrock1 : There is a great newcomers club in the Woodlands. When the YMCA opens back up, there are lots of activities and opportunities to meet people. Trying to decide on where you want to live is a tricky thing. Being alone or single, it may be fun to be able to walk to restaurants and theaters. If this is what you want, it would be beneficial to live near the front of the Woodlands. Alden Bridge Sterling Ridge and Indian Springs are all a little bit further back. Creekside is also another option but it all depends on how far you want to be from your grandkids and children.

@cabeuser : Thank you so much for the great tips. When the YMCA opens up, I will check into the newcomers club you mention. I have seen several new build homes that are quite inexpensive (especially compared to Seattle) in Lake Conroe area. Is this an area where floods are a risk? I am leaning more to a condo but taking my time to look at everything out here.
