People feeding them is doing no good. Education is key.

From a wildlife rehabilitation center, "Of course this is not something that's always in our control when we are aware of others who are feeding wild animals. When wild animals become accustomed to human food, they gather around humans and search out that food. Studies have shown this to be detrimental to their proper growth & over all health as well as causing horrific dental decay. This always puts them in danger. If you know of someone who is feeding the wild animals and you cannot persuade them to stop, try and at least get them to feed in a natural wooded area rather than at the human buildings or within their human communities.
What most people assert is that they love animals & want to help them, but in fact they are being selfish by trying to create relationships with wild animals who need to fear people. None of us live forever, so what happens to a family of animals after we pass, or move away? Most likely either neighbours or the new owners will feel very differently about them."
