Quick Bio of previous experience:

After graduating Maine Maritime Academy, I spent a few years sailing on board Tugboats and 1 year on board an unlimited tonnage fishing vessel out of Dutch Harbor, Alaska that allowed me to sail foreign to Asian ports of call. Prior to Academy I spent significant time on private motor and sailing yachts ranging from 45’ to 160’. I acted in the capacity of OS/AB and First Mate depending on the charter.

I worked for Moran Shipping Agencies at different times throughout my career as a local port agent and vessel manager attending vessel arrivals and departures. My duties included coordination with the vessel’s cargo operations in the terminal as well as being the focal point for all parties with a vested interest in the ship’s port call. This involved lightering operations and direct communication with terminal managers as well as the actual boarding representatives. This allowed me to have at least 2-3 direct reports.

During my employment with IMC Maritime (a disponet ship owner), I was introduced to fixtures of charter parties for dry bulk carriers that would load and discharge cargo in Europe, Asia and the west coast of Africa. This incorporated sending voyage orders to the captain and follow through to the end of the voyage or time charter.
