The Woodlands Waterway

The Woodlands Waterway and Waterway Square add a distinctive feature to the downtown area offering both functional and entertainment value to this bustling location.

The Waterway connects The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, The Woodlands Marriott Hotel & Convention Center, Waterway Square and The Woodlands Mall. The office buildings located at Waterway Square serve as the home for many of The Woodlands major employers, including Anadarko Petroleum, Woodforest National Bank, U.S. Oncology and American Financial and Automotive Services.

The Waterway Square district is not only host to office buildings, but also offers visitors a variety of restaurants, shops, entertainment venues and outdoor green spaces. The plaza and waterfall area offer a welcoming outdoor environment. Choreographed fountains feature colored lighting and music during evening hours.

A perfect way to enjoy The Waterway is on a cruise on The Water Taxi or by kayak from the Riva Row Boat House.

I love walking by the waterway any chance I can get. I was walking there today and I noticed a boom in the amount of turtles that are normally there. They are called red ear sliders, and as I was looking around I noticed that they have almost no way of getting out of the water. I think there might be one or two locations along the waterway that they can climb out. This kind of turtle has to have a way to climb in and out of the water to sunbathe and sleep. Without it they live a poor quality of life. Like I said I love the waterway but we are responsible for the effect that we have on the wildlife with the changes we make to mother nature, and unfortunate things happen to living things when we decided to bulkhead water systems. Many things including people can drown if they fall in and aren\'t able to climb out. As for the turtles maybe someone and put some floating logs or some fake floating lily pads that the turtles can climb up onto, or a floating little island for them. This would also be a cute and new feature for people to enjoy looking at as well.
