Question: Is it legal to conduct a commercial business from home in the Woodlands?

Question:
Is it legal to conduct a commercial business from home in the Woodlands?
If so, how do I file an anonymous complaint?

Answer:
Generally, businesses are not allowed within residential zoned areas, however it is possible to operate a business out of your home in The Woodlands under certain circumstances.

To start, you must fill out a "Business in the Home" application, which must then be pre-approved and reviewed in advance by The Woodlands Township Plan Review Committee and the RDRC Committee. The official "Business in the Home" application can be found here: http://www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov/DocumentView.aspx?DID=895

Not all businesses will be approved to operate in a home.

If you believe that a business is operating in a residential area without a Business in Home permit, you can file a complaint by contacting The Woodlands Township: 281-210-3800 , or by sending them an email through The Woodlands Township web site: http://www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov/

I would prefer that the address not be published at all as all business is conducted elseware and I do not want customers coming to our home.
