Question: Spam or scam in the Classifieds?
Question:
Spam or scam in the Classifieds?
I have a concern about someone who responded from one of my ads posted for a bike. It appears to be someone spamming. Do you keep track of these people? The email is: Maryannebumz8@gmail.com
I received a message from this person before I believe on one of your sister sites. They always end up asking for all of our personal information and offer to mail us payment. This time they shared a story they could not call as they were deaf and it had an angry tone to it saying they were tired of negotiating when in fact we only shared two emails. One was asking what my lowest price would be. A second saying they accepted my lower price but then gave the above story. Do you track these type of people? Thank you and have a wonderful week.
Answer:
Hi,
Yes, we do occasionally get scammers on the classifieds. It's best to only deal with people who are local and can meet with you face to face.
We have a document online at the web address below with more information about how to stay safe while using any online classified system:

Scam!!!! says:
I got the same ones on a craiglist add it's a scam.
I am 99.9% sure they are a scam. Never give out Information unless they give some also.
I always ask for a Phone # so I can deal with a LIVE PERSON. Never take checks Money orders,
Think about a bike shipping is more than the bike.
