CarePatrol "Pays it Forward" by Helping Sponsor MCABW Scholarship Fundraiser - The Woodlands

The Montgomery County Association of Business Women (MCABW) proudly announces that CarePatrol of the Woodlands will be a top sponsor for their annual scholarship fundraiser. The “This is How We Roll” fundraiser is aimed at providing scholarships for female high school graduates of Montgomery County schools.

“For me it is a way of paying it forward,” said Diane Witt Nielson, Senior Care Advisor. “I was very blessed to have a private foundation award me a scholarship when I went to college. My parents didn’t have the funds, so I was very grateful for the donations of people that gave back when I needed it the most.”

CarePatrol was founded in 1994 by a social worker after observing the personal trauma experienced by a family whose loved one had been placed in the wrong type of facility, CarePatrol became the pioneer organization whose core values are dedicated to being a comprehensive personal service and valuable resource for families during the placement of a loved one.

They are a free senior housing placement service that helps families find independent living, assisted living, memory care and in-home care options. They do this by assessing each client’s care level needs, financial needs and general preferred locations and then they recommend the best and safest care options. CarePatrol has offices in nearly every city in the United States, but, according to Nielson, that doesn’t mean it loses any warmth or personal touch.

“My family is from here and we have deep roots in Texas,” she said. “I don’t do business over the phone or the Internet. Instead, I prefer to visit over the kitchen table with a cup of coffee. My best source of referrals are from people that have worked with me before. People have come to know and rely upon Care Patrol because of the success of the local personnel in the communities.”

CarePatrol is a free service, and they are skilled in the latest regulations regarding government grants and funding for senior care.

“CarePatrol requires us to be members in good standing with the Society of Certified Senior Advisors,” Nielson said. “This requires us to do many hours of continuing education to stay abreast of changes in government legislation, Medicare, Medicaid, Veteran’s issues and other issues related to senior healthcare.”

CarePatrol makes advisors available to seniors and their families through the entire placement process.

“For many of the people that I work with they have no idea what to do with the care of their elders,” Nielson continues. “It most always is brought on by a crisis, an illness, the death of a spouse and emotions run high. The children are often over whelmed with the high cost of senior care and don’t always know what options are available to them. Or for that matter, what is the right type care that is needed. I have found through the years that I have become like a “little matchmaker’ and really spent the time with the family to find the perfect place for their loved one. And, once they are placed, I continue to check up on them and see how they are doing.”

The mission of MCABW is to provide a local forum for business to develop and enhance professional and personal relationships with their peers, as well as to give back to Montgomery County through sponsoring other nonprofit organizations and awarding scholarships to deserving local female graduates.

“I honestly believe that people do business with people that they know and trust,” Nielson said of MCABW. “This is a great group of ladies from all walks of life that love what they do and it shows. The website is one of my ‘go to’ places that I look to first when finding a product or service.”

Last year’s MCABW fundraiser raised $12,000 for college-bound young women, and this year they hope to raise more. They will be holding their “This is How We Roll” Scholarship Fundraiser on April 7, at Volkswagen of the Woodlands, located at 16785 Interstate 45 South, The Woodlands, TX 77385.
