No, Flagship Randalls are still owned by the Randall's. But, that was a few years ago, it may have changed.

No they were all bought out by Safeway. You can tell they now carry Safeway products. They also bought the Tom Thumb grocery stores.

Thanks, TxDeb. I know they kept the Flagship stores with the sale of the lesser stores. I imagine, even the Flagship, is not the same. When Safeway stores were in Houston, I used to shop there as their prices were really good. That was about 35 years ago. But, now, they are high. HEB, overall, has the best prices.

No from what I understand from someone who works at Randalls they were all bought out at the same time, the Randalls family didn't keep any.

I second that. I took more time to look when I shopped at HEB and notice they have a fairly large organic selection if you look. The only thing I noticed in Trader Joe's that was cheaper than HEB was the grass fed cheese which is pretty good. I'll stick with HEB.

Trader Joe's is a corporation, a privately help corporation. That is why they have paid the same amount, $0.82 per 32 pounds of picked tomatoes for the last 30 years.

We used to live in California so we're used to Trader Joes - it is definitely not a place to do your weekly shop but they do have certain products that are worth going in for when you need them.

Definitely a niche type place...

I would imagine the Trader Joe's in California are much larger than the one here. That would make a huge difference. This one is just not that appealing inside.
