HAIF had a thread about on coming just north of the 2920 intersection, near that Palais Royale. One of my sites is very near that area and I will keep an eye out to see when a sign is coming up. To be honest, that is probably as close to my house as the ones in the front of The Woodlands.

Randalls is a ghost town. I have no idea why they are still in business.
I agree with you. I have to give it to the deli section, though. They knock themselves out to help you. But, when I want to avoid the hassle, I go there. I agree that I don't know how they stay open. No matter what day I am there, they are not busy at all.
I used to think the same way. However, their stores are laid out terribly, so if I don't know where something is, it takes me forever to find it, especially since nothing is where their signs say it is. Even though the store is empty, they still never manage to have enough registers open, because with all their dumb gimmicks like their club card, the new 'U' thing, buy 10 and save, etc, it takes forever to checkout. Although HEB isn't much better with their 'Combo Loco,' that wild goose chase they put you on to find 5 items that are free when you buy 1 thing that's overpriced.

I do love Whole Foods. HEB will get a run for it's money when that store opens up. I wish they would bring a Central Market here, as well.
Having only been to an HEB once, but having to Whole Foods for 10 years, I will say that there is no way Whole Foods will ever give any full service food store "a run for it's money". Whole Foods has really cool stuff, but it is SO ridiculously expensive, it's unreal. My wife would often stop in there on the way home from work (when we lived in VA) and I used to joke that it was the only food store I knew that you could spend $70 on two brown bags of food without buying any meat or cold cuts. Seriously, it's very, very expensive.
It's good for what it is, a speciality market. But it can never do enough volume to displace a full service market. I lived in Northern VA outside of DC in one of the most monied areas of the country, and while Whole Foods did well, there were a ton of other supermarkets near by that didn't suffer at all.
Whole Foods is expensive, but per Money magazine, The Woodlands is #26 on the list of cities over 50k people by per capita income and #13 in regards to median household income. Spring is the #1 city in the nation for where your money goes farthest.

You are right, I would not buy staple items there. I bought fruits, veggies, breads, fish, and other odd items you normally don't find in other stores. It is just an experience to go to that store. Sort of like going to Central Market…….stuff you can't find other places.
