How is the meat department in these stores? We are getting fed up with Kroger and HEB's service in their meat departments.
In this weeks ad HEB ran srtip steak for $6.97 a pound, the steaks in the counter were full of fat. We asked if they could cut us two steaks an inch thick and they returned with two steaks about a quarter inchn and full of fat. They also said they would be $7.97 a pound and you had to buy the ones in the case to get the advertised price. I never heard of such a thing and told them to keep them. We should have talked to the manager but we were in their too long to begin with.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. We moved here from Florida and loved Publix supermarkets, nothing here can compare to them, that's just our opinion.
Hanaer excuse my spelling. There is a smashburger on the othe end of Louetta around 249? O just want my own burger with frsh toppings from Trader Joes or other farmers market than i would from the grocery store.
Trader Joe's doesn't have a butcher or much in the way of raw meats.
My wife and I actually drive to Fiesta to do most of our shopping. The produce is good quality and less than half the price of the other grocery stores. Gulf shrimp are also much cheaper there too and they sell the real big ones. There's also a lot of unique items there you can't find at HEB, etc.
Whatever we can't get there (Greek yogurt, Kashi, etc), we just make a quick run to Woodlands Market for later.
We reward ourselves on the drive home with candy and soda we've never had before. Who knew El Salvador made such tasty red soda?

HEB cuts their meat way too thin. I have no idea why they do that. Krogers usually has steaks that are both thin and thick.

Trader Joe's opens in less than two weeks! I'm not sure I'll be able to stand the crowds, but otherwise I'm very excited!
Bet it will be jammed at the beginning (especially since it is the first one in all of Houston). I wonder if there is going to be some sort of Grand Opening party?
Good question, I haven't seen anything about a grand opening, but I bet it will be jam packed the day it opens. I'll probably wait a little while before going...I've waited 3 years, a few more weeks won't kill me.
Hmm, maybe I'll see if I can find some information about a grand opening. My love of freebies and possibly winning things is probably greater than my disdain of crowds...
