js1906, if a law to allow same sex marriage was passed, it would have a huge impact on society.
Last I heard I am still allowed to voice my opinion, agree or disagree. I would not like to see the law passed. Different points of view and being able to express them is what makes this country great.
The best part is that no one has to agree with me. We are still allowed to thought process and express opinion s, regardless of whether our opinions are politically correct or appeal to the masses.
I think it is hard to grasp when people don't know gay people who have been in long term relationships and have raised kids. The media grasps onto the fringe of the gay community. Any photos of the gay pride parade, I have seen, only depict the guy with chaps and his fanny sticking out of the backside or an outlandish drag queen. Like most of society, this is not the norm and would be considered very extreme. But, that doesn't sell news. I think that because people are more open about being gay, the young one's coming up don't think twice about it. They know gay people as people and not as a "sin". It makes a huge difference and I heard last night on one of the news channels that this is the fastest evolving issue there is. So, like Hookem says, it is only a matter of time.
Romney came out in favor of gay adoption. Now, if straight people adopted chilren who were not married, I think the cry from the right would be that it is better for the children if their parents are married. I see no problem with gay adoption, either, but, why would they not be better off as recognized gay married couples?

I think most of us know gay people and consider them friends or even relatives. They are no different than the people who are straight.
What I am saying is that as a Christian, I cannot condone their lifestyle. It is my opinion. No one else has to agree with me.
But can you name a state or country where legal same sex marriage has made a huge impact on society?
