What people forget .... there was a Democrat majority in the Senate and Congress during Bush's final years. That's when Barney Frank and his cohorts ran rampant and screwed up everything. Thank Pelosi and Reed for helping out. I don't hear anything about the mess they created so the easy way out was to just blame Bush.

The "right" does not want to cut all funding for the poor, they want accountability for the free ride. They want programs to get people trained and off welfare. We spend a fortune on welfare. There are some that honestly deserve every dime they get and then there are some that don't want to work and accept responsibility.

There are already programs that help the poor get affordable housing, daycare, and give them job training and career counseling for jobs. These programs have been in place for years. Just goodle "Search". It is one of the programs. I am not sure of it's existence as funding has been cut in Texas. Helping people off welfare is not a new concept. It is not easy if someone comes out of jail with a felony, for example. We spend a lot of money on "rehabilitating" prisoners and do not take away their felony records when they have served their time. This makes it nearly impossible to get a job and housing. We punish them for the rest of their lives. There is a lot wrong with what we do, but, there are a lot of programs that are making progress. These all are slated for cuts.

IF you all would state "Facts" not just say "They screwed things up", "not presenting workable bills" I could comment. I am a reasonable person...just please state FACTS.

Then EVERYONE on both sides should state facts and not assumptions. Even when facts are presented, some people don't want to accept the truth, so what's the point. I hope everyone enjoys the LIBERAL SUPPORT GROUP that has been created on here. This is not a forum where people can state their opinions, ONLY FACTS ARE ALLOWED, and only if they make the liberal feel better oh and don't forget all posts must be funny.(as stated by ART-in an email) I will be joining my husband in a break from this site. Hopefully when I return, it becomes a fun forum like it used to be and not a liberal support group.

I think everybody needs to remember this is a public forum. If one is going to put an opinion out on a message board they are opening themselves up to having that opinion scrutinized. There are poster here that are far right, far left and many places in between. I personally consider myself to be a person who is independent.

What I would suggest to anybody who only wants to converse with like minded individuals is to find a forum that is specifically tailored for you and your type of thought. Maybe you could start your own forum and restrict it to only people like yourself. Since The Woodlands and surrounding area has a diverse population of people from the far left to the far right that live, work and spend time in this area it is not a surprise that one might find people from all political affiliations or back grounds or race - all with a wide range of opinions who will post on this site. I like diversity of thought and opinions so I will be sticking around to see where things go. I learn a little from each and every one of you.

Have a Happy Thursday!!!

Actually I am Not crazy about the affordable health care bill. I would have preferred a Medicare for all bill. Just my opinion.

I do apologize if you felt I was disrectful to you. I have No problem with you being a Republican...I was for over 50 years. I try to look at both sides of an issue and stick to facts. Unfortunately the FOX watchers do not deal in facts. Again I apologize if I am assuming you are watching FOX. Although I may say I am liberal I hold many conservative views. I am Not a total 100% Obama supporter. I was very disappointed in his health care bill. I did expect more. If you recall it was the Rebuplicans who were the original supporters of health care several years back. I totally disagree with unions. I have stated this on the blog also.

You never comment when I do have a conservative comment. I will be more careful of what I say and try to not to make unfair assumptions regarding your beliefs. In return I ask you to lighten up a bit...like Silly. She and I will never agree, but we do respect each other's views. She has made the forum fun.

I commend you raising a family and working the shift that you do. All I am asking you is to add a bit of humor to your comments as I try to do.
