thermostat was at 76 degrees this morning.....yuk!

Compressor is not running.

What is strange is that the lights are going from dim to light and the washer has cut off a couple of times.

Electrical maybe, instead of an A/C problem?

Any ideas?

My ideas is to move to an apt where you dont have to worry abotu the a/c.....my late husband and i fought with the a/c and gave up. i got used to it being 90 in the house, with kids though i would leave until it was cooler....but sorry your a/c is not working that isnt any fun at all....you might have a breaker box problem....dont know hope it gets fixed soon for you!!!!

You better hope its not the AC. The price of R22 refrigerant is going through the roof, forcing people to buy a complete new system which isn't cheap either. I guess the EPA doesn't care if you are on a fixed income or not, they are pushing grandma over a cliff.

Ended up being an Entergy problem. They came out and redid the meter.

I was just going to ask if you had the problem solved. Glad to hear the good news especially with the heat and humidity in the area.

There is never a good time for A/C issues and especially not on a holiday. We were lucky to get it all resolved on a holiday.

Entergy responded quickly.

Our electricity went out for an hour from about 9-10pm. I guess someone hit a pole and destroyed it....one of those big one's. Anyway, we have 7 smoke detectors and they started to talk, "battery is low", and beeping. Our dogs were wigged out. I don't know how to change them. I want to rip the batteries out, except we have such high ceilings, I can't get to them easily. However, about an hour or so after the power came back on, they quieted down. So much for safety lol. Now, we have our pool, yard lights, inside trees uplighted (all on timers). Plus, all our clocks, sprinkler system, etc. It is a pain. I understand the hitting the pole thing, but, in general, we have too many outages in our neighborhood.

Check with your energy provider to see if they're having service issues. Are you running too many appliances simultaneously? And at peak times? I replaced the electrical box on my 30-yr home last year and my energy bill been substantially lower since then.
