During my college years I had traveled to New Orleans to watch UT and LSU play at the Superdome (this was the last year Shaq played college ball). We stayed at the same hotel as the UT and LSU basketball teams and I ended up in same elevator as Shaq. I felt very small standing next to him.
What a great role model!!!! We lived in Lafayette for several years from 92 to 94. Shaq would come to visit David Benoit, another professional player. They would walk through the Acadiana Mall and we would be in awe. The kids loved seeing him.
I remember seeing a picture of Shaq (7'1"), next to gymanst Dominique Moceanu (4'8" at the time) at the 1996 Olympics. She hardly came to his elbow, if I remember correctly.
