Unlike you I don't have a mindset that my party is perfect and the other party is awful (I already know that your arrogant comment is going to be that you don't belong to a party...I don't give a damn). I hold all candidates to the same standard. Romney is not my ideal candidate but when it is against him and a man who I believe is actively working to destroy our economy, I have to chose Romney. I don't give a damn about Bain or your spin of it. I don't give a damn about his taxes, church, that he eats gold coverd babies, put a dog on his car (at least he didn't eat dog like our current president), or if he bitch slapped the queen. As an economic professional I can tell you that his economic plan is 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 times better then Obama's.
if obama does not take trump up on his $5 million offer, we can safely assume that he is hiding something really big and should never have been elected president.

(Nobel Prize-winning) Economist Paul Krugman disagrees with you.
(There's money in "eat[ing] gold covered babies"? Leave it to Romney!)

This is the way we should be thinking??
President Obama should accept the offer, with the proviso that Mitt Romney release his income tax information simultaneously.

Given you're an economic professional that didn't appear to understand that income tax is levied at a higher rate than capital gains tax you'll forgive me for discounting your professional analysis of a plan that (a) hasn't been explained in anywhere near the level of detail we deserve and (b) based on what little we have been told doesn't work mathematically.

I miss typed one time, give it up.
To CecilQ, the Nobel Prize is a bonus given to liberals. It is no longer credible. Unless you think War Monger Obama desereved one. I am glad that you were able to find one economist who is a zombie.

Capitol gains have already been taxed at the Corporate level. So there is a reason it is taxed at a lower rate.
Like his tax returns, You are NOT going to get specifics on Romneys tax plan before he can work, with Democrats AND Republicans, on the specifics.
Obama has NO plan other than taking more of everything, (money, liberty) from everyone. Every time I see him, all he can say is the math doesn't work.
He said on LENO last night that he didn't help his kids with math anymore because, being a freshman in high school, it was past his expertise now.
DUH,,, No kidding..

I didn't comment on whether the rate should or should not be higher as that was irrelevant to my point (which was someone calling themselves an economic professional ought to know that the rate was lower).

And yet some here have 'analyzed' this plan (which you acknowledge has not laid out specifics on what it includes) and claims it's somehow better - without specifics how on earth can you tell?

It's easy to tell which will be better. A successful businessman vs Obamas 4 year's of failed economic dart throwing. I'll take Romney.
This is not about Obama and Romney. It's about me. I'm tired of my money being flushed down the toilet, and being told it's an INVESTMENT. I'm not that stupid.
Many people have had enough. We will get results on election day.

It is ludicrous to suggest that Romney is hiding anything. We still don't know if Obama is even eligible to run for president. You must be a naturalized citizen, meaning both of your parents were citizens. That, above anything, makes me wonder what the hell is going on! He is not even eligible to run! Moreover, his secrecy about his past, covered up completely, is appalling. He is a disguised anti-colonial anti-imperialist, and he blames traditional American values for everything he hates! Supporting him for traditional Democratic party values is a huge mistake. He could care less about civil rights, the poor, etc. His motivation is to lessen America's influence in the world stage and make up for decades, centuries, of colonialistic injustices throughout the world. He is a communist.
Awesome!
Ok I have to correct you, Both parents do not have to be US citizens. If you are born in the US it doesn't make any difference. Here's the link if you want to check it out, really only one parent has to be a US citizen but there are criteria that cover that. They laws may have been slightly different back when Obama was born. But unless someone can prove that he was born abroad and the circumstances were different it's a mute point. He needs to go but his citizenship is a dead issue unless someone can definitely prove otherwise.

The Stimulus wasn't dart-throwing. It was money spent to give jobs and buying power to all Americans. It would have worked MUCH better if the Republicans hadn't crippled it by prohibiting the American Jobs Act of 2011. The torpid pace of recovery is due solely to Republican obstructionism.
If you want a candidate who yearns to recreate the economic structure of medieval Europe, vote for Romney. His augmentation of the economic policies introduced by George the Worst will result in a thin scum of economic aristocrats and a sea of impotent serfs (to include the newly-defined "middle class" [i.e. "poor".])
Most Americans see behind the frozen grimace to the solipsistic predator, a perception that will be determinate of the November vote.
