THE WOODLANDS, TX (February 26, 2015) - Children's Books on Wheels, a nonprofit organization that promotes literacy in local youth, is hosting a special celebration of the birth of Theodore Geisel -- better known to millions of readers as"Dr. Seuss" -- on Monday, March 2 at 4:00 p.m. in honor of "Read Across America Day". Children and adults of all ages are invited to attend this event that will feature snacks, festivities, reading opportunities galore and even special "Dr. Seuss" hats for all the children. Children's Books on Wheels is hosting the event as part of its continuing mission to promote reading by providing books, educational literature, and community resources to pre-K through 12th grade students and their families in rural communities and urban areas. One program that CBOW sponsors is the "Seed to Read" program for after-school literacy tutoring. Donna Wick Public Relations and Milstead Automotive will sponsor the snacks and drinks for the event.
Read Across America is a year-round program founded by the National Education Association in 1997 that focuses on motivating children and teens to read through events, partnerships and reading resources.
