Thanks, Hookem,,,

Your absolutely right about the BBC. Seeing OUR news through the eyes of an outside news source is very enlightening.

Where do you get the real news?

If there is a place with no bias, I would love to know about it. As it is, when you here something on the news, you have to research it yourself.

It was quite a few years ago that after we heard a speech, there would be a group to explain to us what the person making the speech actually said. I guess that was when the decision was made that the general public was too dumb to understand or form opinions by ourselves.

Even after the President makes a speech. I understand, totally, what was said. Then, the pundits come on and pick it apart and distort what I just heard, so, I don't listen to that BS after a major speech. The morph it into something I don't recognize. The did this with Bush and Clinton, as well.

I agree, sstone. I can't decide if they are trying to spin or just really believe we are that dumb.

Sillystring, I think it is filling up space on air time, but, nonetheless, their opinions are more diverse than ours on this forum. I think the talking heads just like to hear themselves talk. Even some of the liberal people I used to really like have gotten so opinionated, they no longer serve the people who watch them. The ONE person on MSBNC who always has her facts checked is Rachael Maddow. She is a Democrat. But, she is a Rhodes Scholar, a PHD, and is brilliant. I can depend on what she says is always factual. It is hard to find that in most of the pundits.

we cannot forget all the comments taken out of context from the politicians. They become the talking points for the next two weeks.

What is it about politicians that they cannot tell the truth. They had much rather spit out a half truth and blast it all over the tv and they KNOW it is a lie, but if it will get votes, they don't care.

Integrity is obviously not a requirement to be elected to office.

I hate the negative ads, but, we as a society, must respond favorably to that kind of thinking or they wouldn't do it. I would much rather they talk about what the problems are and how they will solve them. But, that would make them have to put themselves out there for people to judge them.......sigh.

Did anyone see the story on their auto leases. They all drive hybrids, which I guess is a requirement. That alone ticks me off. They are paying monthly payments (wait, the taxpayers are paying monthly payments) that no normal person would pay. It does not cost that much to lease a lexus and whatever else they are driving. The leasing agent must be making a killing.

My suggestion would be they turn in the leased units and take a taxi!

If these cars cause less pollution, I would guess they do it to set an example. I would LOVE to start getting rid of the air pollution. However, cars are not the only culprit. While we are buying hybrids, there are trucks out there spewing tons of black smoke out of their exhaust. I drive with the circulation in side my car, but, sometimes, that will not stop me from getting a car full of that nasty stuff! Do they not have to use emission inspection?

They (Toyota) have a huge plant in Georgetown, KY. that employs several locals from the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Any president would have given the order to kill Osama, I don't know why this is a big deal. It was the information gathered from water boarding that lead to his location and Osama gave the order, so what. That is if you believe he wasn't already dead in 07'.

I like it when people complain about pollution but enjoy all of the things that causes it. I wonder how much pollution was generated in the manufacturing of the computer you are using? Give me a break.

Are you always so grumpy MRoss? Do you have to put a negative spin on everything.

This thread started off grumpy and negative. But you will never say a word to anyone else unless they disagree with you.

MRoss, it is a big deal. The reason we went to war was because of this man.........one was totally unnecessary and the other was where he was training people, supposedly. But, we do know he was the mastermind and the "go to" guy for the World Trade Center. I am glad they got him. Now, we have a date to get out of Afgnastan and, hopefully, we won't be in such a hurry and have someone with common sense to keep us from ever doing this, again. I feel we should NEVER go to war against another country if they are not bothering us. Plus, if the intel was from Bush's waterboarding, why didn't he go get him?
