They upheld the mandate by making it a tax, that's ashamed. So if you don't get insurance your tax will come out of your tax return.

But they struck down the Medicaid Expansion requirements, basically they can't penalize a state for not expanding Medicaid.

I think it's going to take days to really hash out all of the decision.

This is interesting and I don't really understand the ins and outs yet.

I would have preferred they had thrown the whole darn thing out!

I think there are some good provisions in this, but some really bad ones also.

I can't wait until all the democrats realize it isn't going to be free and those that pay $600 a month will still have to pay that and if they choose not to or can't afford to, the government will now take it out of their taxes.

He wants to implement this law and move on!

The immigration laws which were already on the books.....he doesn't want those enforced.

How do you pick and choose which laws you want enforced?

A Tale of Two Patients...

By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.
Confucius

***********

Two patients limp into two different medical clinics with the same complaint.

Both have trouble walking and appear to require hip surgery.

The FIRST patient is examined within the hour, is x-rayed the same day and has a time booked for surgery the following week.

The SECOND sees his family doctor after waiting 3 weeks for an appointment, ---

Then waits 8 weeks to see a specialist, then gets an x-ray, which isn't reviewed for another week and finally has his surgery scheduled for 6 months from then, pending the review boards decision on his age and remaining value to society.

Why the different treatment for the two patients?

The FIRST is a Golden Retriever taken to a vet. The SECOND is a Senior Citizen on Obama care...

In November if He and his Czars get another term, we'll all have to find a good vet!

There are provisions already being implemented that make no sense. The one that bugs me the most is the cap on Flexible spending accounts. We utilize this extensively. We always had been able to take $5000/year for each of us, meaning my husband could take $5000 a year and I could take up to $5000 a year, this covered co-pays which at times could amount to a lot. Eye Exams, glasses, and at one time over the counter meds were covered. Well now starting with 2013 we can only take up to $2500/per employee. We pay for our own insurance, and this really helped us with the co-pays not to mention it was taken out of our paychecks before taxes.

Senior citizens are already seeing the affect of Obamacare. I see with my parents who more and more are paying out of their pocket because Medicare won't pay, the secondary pays only so much.

I have several friends who claim to be "Liberal" they voted for Obama because they wanted free healthcare. They still believe they are going to get free health care.

No Democrat EVER thought "Affordable Healthcare" was free!!!!It is just less expensive than you can buy it currently. And, yes, it is going to come out of their taxes. I figured that was going to be the option. There is NO reason for people NOT to have insurance as they get sick and go to the ER and you and I have to pay for them. This is giving them personal responsibility so the rest of us don't have to foot their bills. If you are so upset about welfare, why are you so intent on paying other people's healthcare bills??

You keep talking about senior citizens having to pay more and more out of pocket. I would like all people who are on Medicare to comment on this. I have, in 4 years, paid NOTHING as I have a good supplemental and have kept my Medicare. I remember one time my parent were talked onto Secure Horizens. This was horrible. They paid the doctor visits and some other stuff, but, if you got really sick, they wouldn't pay the bills. We had hell to pay to get them off it and back on Medicare. I have AARP. I don't know what supplemental your parents have that is not paying, but, I suggest you find another one that probably costs more, but, will pick up the balance.

As for your "liberal" friends who thought they would get free healthcare, they are either not doing their homework or are just plain ignorant. It has been all over the news for months that it is "Affordable". Never did they use the term, "free".

You didn't read what I said I said MEDICARE won't pay, supplemental doesn't pay 100% only a portion plus there is a deductible, so if MEDICARE doesn't pay then where does it come from it comes out of their pocket because supplemental insurance does not cover 100% and their are deductibles. MEDICARE is the issue, there have been things they needed to have done that MEDICARE says nope it's not medically necessary, so it's not the doctor, it's not the supplemental it is MEDICARE, so because MEDICARE says it's not medically necessary they have to pick up the difference, if they didn't have some of the things done then there quality of life would be less. So MEDICARE is the issue, not the supplemental. They have a good supplemental but its MEDICARE that's the problem.

No sure who you think you are fooling, but there are a lot of people out there that think it will be free. You still have to pay for the people that don't pay and you will not see your premiums reduced. Oh and there is a provision that if you are overweight you will also pay a higher premium. I'm waiting for the day when this comes back to bite the democrats in the butt.

Allowing insurance companies to sell private insurance across states lines would have decreased some of the skyrocketing costs. There were some things that could have been done besides government run healthcare.

You are a privleged democrat on Medicare. Your GOOD supplemental is not what normal poor senior citizens on Medicare experience. My grandma who is 85 and on Medicare making $500 a month in Medicare and also getting another $400 from my grandpa's since he died. She went to the hospital a few months ago and just got a bill for $2500. She was there 5 days. She doesn't have a good supplemental. How is she supposed to pay that bill on $900 a month. I grew up in a poor family, I know first hand how poor people live. You don't have a clue!

My parents are by no means poor, they did a great job of setting themselves up for retirement. It's just MEDICARE that is the stumbling block.

Also I want to laugh when people say "Affordable Health Care". My health insurance costs have increased since the "Affordable Health Care" law (or whatever you want to call it) has gone into effect and yes it has already started that's what has affected the Flexible Spending accounts, it's implemented in phases. So because I have a job, I pay my own insurance, I'm going to be penalized because my costs to have insurance are going up and where I used to pay a co-pay with no deductible, I now pay a deductible and 20% for an in network doctor. My co-pay for prescriptions has gone up. My salary has not gone up.
