New HEB in The Woodlands...

"H-E-B has purchased a 14.6 acre site for its third location in The Woodlands.

Richard Golden, director of real estate for the Houston division of H-E-B, said The Woodlands has been a very successful market for the San Antonio-based grocer and he looks forward to expanding H-E-Bís presence in the community.

The Woodlands Development Company was represented in the sale by Todd Edmonds and Cody Christoph of Colliers International.

The newest H-E-B will be located at FM 1488 and Kuykendahl Road.

H-E-B, with sales of more than $15 billion, operates more than 300 stores in Texas and Mexico."

Seriously - HEB is my favorite. The one on Sawdust is kind of icky, in my opinion, but the one on Woodlands Parkway and Kuykendahl is really nice.

They have fresher produce, better selection, and better prices than all the other chains. Especially Randall's. I actually don't even know why Randall's is still in business-- maybe only because they say "Thank you, Mr. <insert last name<" when you leave?

Yeah, I love HEB. Since moving from Michigan a couple years ago I use to always go to Kroger every week, that was my main grocery store. Since moving to Texas all I shop is HEB with a little bit of Randall's here and there.

I used to prefer the old Albertson's -- I wonder why they went out of business?

I like HEB better then any other grocery store. The HEB on Sawdust is alot older than the other ones.

According to Albertson's website---

Purchase of Select Albertson's, Inc. Businesses Completed by Cerberus Capital Management Led Investor Group -

June 2nd, 2006 - Boise, ID - The purchase of select Albertsonís, Inc. businesses has been completed by a group of investors led by Cerberus Capital Management, LP. The group also includes Kimco Realty, Schottenstein Stores Corporation, Lubert-Adler Partners, and Klaff Realty, LP.

The Cerberus-led group has acquired 661 operating stores and 100 percent of the distribution centers and offices in Albertsonísí Dallas/Fort Worth division and in the Florida, Northern California, Rocky Mountain and Southwestern regions. These stores operate under the Albertsonís and Super Saver banners and also include the combo-store pharmacies under the Osco and Sav-on banners.

The businesses acquired by the Cerberus-led group will operate under the ownership of Albertson's LLC as the successor to Albertson's, Inc. And, as previously announced, Robert Miller will lead the Boise-based company as its Chief Executive Officer.

ďBeing part of a smaller, privately held organization, we can now accomplish things at the local level that were not practical before. We will have a more targeted focus on what is right for the customer and be able to make those decisions much more quickly and closer to them,Ē Miller commented.

I am so very excited. I live on 1488 and do everything in The Woodlands, including going to Market Street Woodlands. Opening an HEB so close will be wonderful. I cannot wait!!!

Why couldn't HEB build a Central Market instead, rather than just another HEB. The Market Street location is below par in regards to Central Market standards.

What we need is a Whole Foods not another HEB. There is a huge need for more organic produce and meats in the Woodlands.

Well yes, it would be nice to have a Central Market, but I'm really happy with the produce at HEB.

I love that they have fresh herbs and lots and lots of seasonal fruit. And their prices are great compared to Randall's

When I lived in Florida I thought Publix was the best - but HEB is my new favorite.

I agree about Whole Foods in The Woodlands. We really need something other than HEB and Kroger when it comes to organic food, range fed beef, etc. I really hope The Woodlands will consider letting WF in to our market.

A Whole Foods would be nice. I remember that was what was rumored to be going in where the Central Market is now.

I do love shopping at HEB and Central Market at Market Street; however, a Whole Foods would certainly bring a new dimension to the area. There is a definite need for one.

Yes, I wholeheartedly agree. We need a real Central Market or a Whole Foods here. Another HEB just doesn't cut it.

How do we get them to build a real Central Market or better yet, a W hole Foods. The HEB's here are not very good.

Does anybody know when will the newest HEB (i. e. on the 1488) be built?
