More on Woodlands 2014 Incorporation vote
Feb 29, 2012 - 03:31 pm
After the post last week from the Community Impact Newspaper article, I've been trying to find more information about the details of the possible 2014 Woodlands incorporation vote. The Woodlands Township will be holding public forums at the end of March for residents to learn more...seems very worthwhile for those who are concerned/curious about what all would change should The Woodlands become it's own city - here is the link about the public forums - http://www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov/index.aspx?ni

Here is the actual report the numbers came from, it includes some interesting information about public service provision now and if we became a separate city.

If they don't incorporate, can they be annexed by Houston? I remember about ten years ago there was talk of Houston annexing The Woodlands.

I was told by our salesperson that there was something in place that would not allow Houston to annex us. Whether true or not, I don't have proof.

As part of the agreement to become a township The Woodlands will never be annexed by the City of Houston. As part of the agreement is that the Township pays X amount of money each year to the City of Houston.

I believe we are now, a Township. Not sure what that means. I think JM98 knows. If interested, I'm sure the information is available.

We are currently a township now what the residence will be voting on is to incorporate into a city. Regardless if The Woodlands remains a township or incorporates it cannot be annexed by the City of Houston or The City of Conroe.

32.5 cents: Current property tax rate in The Woodlands

The decrease in road projects lowered the estimated property tax rate from 58.14 cents per $100 valuation
to 55.39 cents

I read that article and some stuff didn't make sense, such as needing to build a police station. Couldn't the current sheriff's office be transferred?
