Lawmakers upset??

Funny, unless you can buy custom tailor made clothes in the U.S you don't have a choice. I seldom shop with my wife but in a clothing store on Market St. when asked for help I replied "where can I find clothes made in the USA" ? The clerk said sorry not in here! Dillards, Tommy Bahama's, etc. all have nothing but imports.

Lawmakers furious over China-made U.S. Olympic uniform
By David Leon Moore and Erik Brady, USA TODAYUpdated 4h 14m ago
The controversy surrounding Team USA's Chinese-made uniforms for the Olympics opening ceremony raged Thursday as Washington politicians jumped into the fashion fray. They criticized the U.S. Olympic Committee for approving the uniforms.

Sponsored LinksSen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., said the USOC should be "ashamed" that the blue blazers, white pants and berets that American athletes will wear are manufactured in China. "They should take all the uniforms, put them in a big pile and burn them," Reid said.

Other lawmakers also were critical of the apparel designed by Ralph Lauren. "You'd think they'd know better," House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, said of the USOC.

Added Sen. Bernie Sanders: "The Olympics are a time when Americans take great pride in our nation's top athletes as they strive for gold. At a time when millions of Americans are unemployed, there is no reason why U.S. Olympic uniforms are not being manufactured in the U.S."

USOC spokesman Patrick Sandusky defended the uniforms, calling Ralph Lauren an "iconic American company."

U.S. athletes didn't have the same sense of outrage as the politicians.

"It's a global world we live in," Olympic beach volleyball player Todd Rogers, a 2008 gold medalist, told USA TODAY Sports. "I would say there are much bigger issues to worry about than where Ralph Lauren has the opening ceremonies clothes made."

Swimmer Missy Franklin said she won't march in the July 27 opening ceremony because the Olympic swimming competition begins the next day. While she wasn't asked about the issue of the clothes being made in China, Franklin called the uniforms "absolutely adorable."

"Everything Ralph Lauren did was so, so cool," Franklin said at the U.S. swim team's media day in Knoxville, Tenn. "To be able to wear those, or have the opportunity to, is so exciting."

Even in Cozumel, all the stores were filled with souveniers from China. With all the poverty there, one would think they would manufacture that in Mexico. I doubt they have a shortage of lower wage employees.

It makes me sick that nearly everything we buy is made in another country. I looked at a shirt I was wearing today, hoping it would be US made, but, it was made in Vietnam. We need to bring manufacturing back to this country.

How about the shoes, and uniforms worn in competition?

NIKE:

In Nike' s case, the actual production facilities are owned by South Korean and Taiwanese companies that manufacture the products under contract with Nike. The bulk of Nike products are manufactured in China, Thailand, and Indonesia, though some components or products involving more complex technology are manufactured in South Korea or Taiwan. In 1995, a Korean company opened up a major new facility in Vietnam, giving that country also a significant share of Nike' s production."

I remember a time not so long ago when Walmart advertised "Made in the USA" products. But when we made the NAFTA and the Chinese trade agreements we started seeing less and less made here in the US. Time to give incentives for companies to come back to the USA and for other companies to quit outsourcing help lines to Canada, India and now China.

The President wants to give incentives for companies to bring manufacturing back here and not give incentives for companies who outsource. But, that would require Congress to agree.

Where, proofs, facts, not just heresay, I have seen nothing that says he wants to do that at all.

All he's ever pushed is bailouts and ObamaCare. He hasn't really tried to get our jobs back here.

Talk is cheap, he's been there 4 years and not done anything but ObamaCare and bailouts, he would have done better if he had put his efforts into getting businesses back here but yet more and more businesses are outsourcing, now they are moving on to China.

If you buy a so called American made car did you know some of the parts are made in Mexico? Yep Mexico, so your "American" car is not really an "American" car anymore.

The President does not make the laws. He can present a bill to Congress that he hopes will pass. He has done that many times over and they have voted it down or filibustered it so it can't get a vote. So, to say the President is not doing anything is being uninformed.
