Kroger is planning to move forward with their planned gas station at the corner of Bay Branch Drive and Kuykendahl despite protest from residents of Alden Bridge.

Residents gathered more than 1,000 signatures to protest the gas station which will be situated close to a church and a daycare center.

Kroger announced that a search for other available tracks of land had failed and they will continue with their original plan despite resident objection.

Why does proximity to a church and day care matter?

Not trying to be rude, just understand why so much opposition.

Statistically and historically gas stations can bring with them increase in traffic in said areas and crime. I know it is The Woodlands, but plenty of crime has happened before at gas stations here.

Anything brings traffic and crime. Let's get realistic. Emoticon I would rather a gas station than a club or bar.

I think just because it looks tacky and they would rather keep the trees.

Sounds like another case of all the woodland folk wanting to huddle up under the trees but putting the less desireable parts of a community in someone else's back yard. They would rather have the gas station in another area and drive to it becoming part of the traffic that drives other people's property value down rather than sustaining their own needs in their own area.

The site is suitable for commercial use. The street is a main route out of The Woodlands and as such is suitable for a gas station. The price of fuel at existing gas stations in Alden Bridge and throughout The Woodlands, is generally higher than elsewhere. Kroger gas has been cheaper than any other in the area, particularly when using their membership discounts. Kroger has been a positive/supportive member of The Woodlands community for years. I don't see anything wrong with this improvement.

When the finish the rest of Kuyk to 1488 in next couple of months the traffic is going to increase greatly. Expect it. Are the building a new store or leaving the on in shopping center and do free standing gas station?

Why do y'all care or have an opinion if you're not the one living by there. They are. There is plenty of gas by the TWO gas stations a block away in the actual shopping center or by the HEB A mile away. Yeah it's the woodlands, people move here to live in this atmosphere not to live in city atmosphere. I've lived here the majority of my life and it's annoying to hear this crap from people who just moved here a year ago. If people want to express what they don't want let them. I personally have accepted The Woodlands isn't a community anymore, but if people want to fight for still... Let them.

It's all about supply and demand and money. Come on folks. I would have to agree... It's just a darn gas station. OMGosh, there must not be much to do there that people have to complain about a gas station...

How about taking up the "teenager" with drugs in their cars at high school? Now that one is fun!
