AgingRiverTamer sometimes you can run your mouse over (without clicking) the link and read what the link is about without wasting time waiting for a webpage to load. The information I recieved from running my mouse over is:

USDA uses Spanish soap operas to push food stamps among non-citizens

Obama also used an executive order to kill Welfare reform from the '90's. You no longer need to seek employment while on foodstamps. Hmm...who is he pandering to?

It was from Welfare not Food Stamps, Food Stamps you can get if your income is poverty level. Welfare is for those who don't work, so now we are going to have people sitting on Welfare for years and years again.

I actually can't find where he put out an executive order for this, just that he wants to do away with the work requirement for Welfare recipeints

Found it I think or something close.

Wonder what Bill Clinton thinks about this since he's the one who passed it in 1996.

That is it. I wonder why the media isn't reporting this, but they are discussing that Obama likes "Thin mint" cookies.

Even conservative sources aren't covering it as well as they should.

Why work, when you can have a free ride off the taxpayer.

It is incredible to me that the people that say the federal government doesn't work, that states should be given more freedom to do what works for them are the same people who then criticize the federal government for ceding more control to the states.

If you read the _actual_ purpose of these waivers, you'd find information like this:

1) It's not an executive order at all
2) HHS is encouraging _states_ to consider new, more effective ways to meet the goals of TANF, particularly helping parents successfully prepare for, find, and retain employment. Therefore, HHS is issuing this information memorandum to notify states of the Secretary’s willingness to exercise her waiver authority under section 1115 of the Social Security Act to allow states to test alternative and innovative strategies, policies, and procedures that are designed to improve employment outcomes for needy families.
3) The purposes of TANF, the prohibitions contained in section 408 (including the time limits on assistance contained in that section), or any other provision of TANF other than those specified in section 402 will not be waived.
4) The Republican gentleman quoted in your link seems to have a fundamental misunderstanding of what "rule of law" means. As noted in the memo, the waiver being discussed is part of the law already on the books.

But carry on getting outraged about it...

I have a new strategy for them......drug test the people on welfare and use the government "waste" to pay for it.

UKMatt, the federal government does not work efficiently. Why, I don't know. I'm beginning to believe government workers don't realize it is their own tax money they are wasting or they just don't care.

Wasn't obama supposed to get all this "waste" handled or was that just another unfulfilled promise.

So why the outrage when the federal government looks to the states to look for better solutions?
