Texas is a little different from where you are now. Texans are very friendly and welcoming people.
The Woodlands is very diversified. You will meet a lot of folks there from other places. In all honesty most areas are diversified, but I think the Woodlands is moreso.
I think you will love Texas! I would suggest you spend your first July and August here inside. Just go out for short trips. The next Summer you will know what to expect.

Welcome. I am from the NE as well and still find the weather difficult to get used to. We lived in Houston proper at first, but I like TW a lot better. Apart from the terrible weather, it reminds me much more of "home"/the Northeast. I think you'll like it. Good luck with the move.

Yes, we have two young children, one who will go to Creekside Forest, the other in daycare. I am very excited to learn today that our next door neighbor has a son the same age as my son! Woot!
I'm in Creekside Forest - Timarron. We love it over here we moved from Panther Creek to here last summer. Splash pad right around the corner from our house but we no longer have young children.

We love it!! Creekside is really nice all over. I think there are only 3 builders left over here, Beazer and Pulte are gone.
