I totally agree. I live in the Jagged Ridge area of Creekside, have been here for 2 years now. The area is only about 2.5 years old, but there are people who do not know what it means to mow their lawns, or remove weeds.
I thought we had some interesting political threads but this one was very upsetting.
It looks like an old thread someone pulled out of retirement!! Some of these communities have been around longer than the Woodlands so there will be older homes but if you drive through TL/TR there are homes that are well kept.
Years ago, I sold real estate and you would not believe how some of the homes in the upper brackets were kept. It is just a bigger box. So, there will be a percentage of people in all brackets that will not keep their homes up. One of the problems in The Woodlands is that people (a lot of Mexican nationals) buy homes and rent them out. A lot of the renters don't seem to take the same amount of care as the owners. You can find exceptions on both. In our neighborhood, there are several rentals.
I always find the remarks about renters interesting. It is absolutely true that renters have a bad reputation and deservedly so.
We sold our home four years ago and have been leasing since then. I always try to leave a home (owned or leased) better than I found it. We redo landscape if it needs it. We have even painted exterior and interior of homes (with permission) of homes that we have leased. Owned or leased, it is my home and there will always be a standard that we maintain.
I have looked at lease houses and houses to buy that I would not even consider. They are not maintained and you know the owners don't own a steam mop or a vacuum. It is amazing how some people live regardless of home price.

That is what I said, Silly, a LOT of renters don't keep their yard. But, so do many home owners. When I rented homes, I kept them pristine. But, that is not always the case. You and I care about where we live, no matter if we own it or not.
I saw Timber Lakes on the map today. I believe it was in the Woodlands boundary line. Its zip that I saw if correct Timber Lakes/Timber Ridge was 77380. That is Woodlands enough for me.
I agree with the renters comment. It completely depends on the Renter. I had a doctor that lived next door and rented and the house was kept so clean! The last family that just moved out did not keep it that way.
Some of the homes at the entrance to the subdivision near the Catholic church flooded, as they did during Ike. That area gets all the water that slopes downward from the peak between the creeks, plus if you are familiar with the car wash and repair shop, they are on raised land, so the water flows down from there as well.
More lives ruined. After Ike, a number of investment companies snatched up the homes for cheap, slapped some fresh paint on, and rented them out to unsuspecting people.
I think BOOO is a dumb @#s. Obvoiusely he/she has not heard of the pot houses going up in the Woodlands and the home invasions that are happening under his/her nose. What about the sucides that are taken place because people don't know how to cope with their issues. Look at how many registered sex offenders there are in the Woodlands compared to Timber Lakes. I think he/she live a typical Woodlands life, thinking that it is so safe to live in The Woodlands that denial has set in. Do your research before you start to write a bunch of B.S.
From what I see about TimberLakes subdivision people seem to pull together to protect one another. The majority of the residents are elderly people that lived in the area since this place was developed. The Woodlands area has a bunch of transite people that are here for a few years and leave depending on the job market.
There will be crime in any community, unfortunately. We have not done a good job of getting rid of drugs coming into this state and city. That is the main thing that fuels break-ins, robberies, etc. That said, I believe this is a much safer place than a lot of them. I lived close to Meyerland off Braeswood and there were apartments that were full of all types of drugs and drug users that were on all sides of us. Even though our neighborhood was beautiful, the shopping centers looked trashy, good stores moved out because of shoplifting, and some nights, driving down Braeswood, I could just feel danger all around me. I don't feel that in The Woodlnads.
I was looking for some info on indian tribes who once lived in the TL/TR area and came accross this posting....I have lived in TL/TR for over 10 years, I have a Marine Engineering Degree from A&M, and have two projects I personnally designed and built listed in the Guiness Book of World Records.....Oh did I mention I live in TL/TR? You all have entirely way to much free time on your hands if your worried about this sh!t. Stop worring about your neighbor and start living a productive life....then perhaps it wouldnt be such a dull one you live where critiqueing others is the highlight of your life.
It seems silly to me to judge the residents of your subdivision or the residents of the Woodlands by a few posts on a thread. I doubt there is a majority speaking.
Maybe some of the people are protective of the name, "The Woodlands" is because this site is titled such and expect that the people live here. I, personally, don't care, but, I came on this site because of the title. I thought it would be a good way to see how the people think in The Woodlands.
