I am so tired of making the same dishes over and over again. But, the meals I make are what my family likes and asks for. Personally, I would rather have a wider variety of food. Hamburgers, chicken (plain, broiled, with rice and veggies, or baked potato and salad)Steak or a roast, served with the same side dishes, tacos, pasta. That is really all my family likes. I have a vegetarian, another who is lactose intolerant. Wishing planning meals was more exciting.

I agree. I think we all get burnt out on cooking the same things over and over.

Have you tried marinating chicken breasts in Italian dressing and then baking them still in the dressing.

Maybe we should start a recipe thread and everyone can post their favorite 3 recipes. Maybe we could pick up some new ideas.

a recipe thread sounds fun. i totally end up making the same 5-10 things week in and week out. quick and easy meals without too many ingredients would be great.

meatless spaghetti is good... we can start a thread here hehe...so beenthere....look on the internet or new recipes...if your family member is lactose intolerant can they take some lactaid? for your vegetarian member just make whatever you want for dinner and have vegetables as a side dish for your vegetarian member. clears up your recipe book doesn't it?

I take medication that makes me lactose intolerant, at least as far as milk is concerned. Cheese I doesn't seem to bother me.

What I started doing was looking for new recipes on the internet. Since I do work, I like things that are good for us but not time intensive to fix. I no longer have young children so if one whose home and going to college doesn't like it well, she can fend for herself.

If it's a casserole I make it ahead of time on the weekend and then pop it in the oven when I get home. It's a lot better than pre-made casseroles.

We look for low carb type meals and I have found many websites with good recipes!!

Peanut butter sandwiches if they don't want to eat what you fix.

The crock pot is awesome. You can basically throw just about anything in there in the morning and you have dinner ready by the evening. There are many websites that have easy recipes. Just Google it.

Hubby is allergic to nuts. No peanut butter for him. Child #1 is vegetarian but will eat fish. Child # 2 is lactose intolerant, dislikes all seafood. I am not a big chicken fan, but I will eat it sometimes. Child # 1 doesn't eat at home much anyway . (away at school) We are just your average picky family.

I got to where I cook what hubby and I like. I fed my kids everything we ate but it seemed as they got older they decided there were certain things they didn't like. Now with only one at home if she doesn't like it she can fend for herself. Otherwise, we would be eating the same thing over, and over, and over....

Thankfully my kids are not picky. They eat whatever we do.

I too get tired of making the same family favorites. One thing my family never seems to tire of though is pizza. I make my own dough but if you didn't want to, I saw that Trader Joe's sells it in their refrigerated section. I change my toppings from BBQ chicken, pesto chicken, tomato with sausage or pepperoni or you could
do a veggie one. I also make a flatbread dough too with various toppings. I would be glad to share my recipes if anyone would like them.

My kids used to be great about eating what we eat. Then they got older. Really, they aren't that bad. I think i am more picky than they are. And , in their defense, it is all about not wanting meat/fish. I know some families where the kids will eat only one or two things, and that's it ! I just wish I had more creativity when it came to meals. I will try some of you suggestions and see what I come up with.

Pioneer Woman has some decent recipes. I think she is on the cooking channel also. I DO find her recipes a little bland, but you can fix that with seasonings.

My daughter and I love the cooking channel. She is only a younger teen, but she loves to cook and she is really adamant about healthy eating.
