Human Trafficking At Local Massage Parlors

On Thursday, July 14, 2016, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit served a search warrant at a business known as the Green Tea Thai Massage located in the 16000 block of Bridlewood Dr. near FM 1488. The warrant was obtained after an offer of prostitution was made to an undercover officer. The female (Wei Tang, 50) was arrested and charged with prostitution.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, along with several other law enforcement agencies including the Montgomery County Fire Marshal, Montgomery County Constable Precinct 3, and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office are conducting compliance investigations on numerous massage parlors that have recently opened in Montgomery County. As a result of these investigations, numerous citations and arrests have been made for non-compliance of required state licenses, as well as for prostitution. During these investigations, customers involved in prostitution at these locations have been identified. This information is being forwarded to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office for review.

The Montgomery County Human Trafficking Coalition is working with Federal and State law enforcement agencies and prosecutors to investigate these and other locations for criminal and human trafficking violations.

To report any suspected or known violations please contact Montgomery County Crime Stoppers or the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit.

Do you think these women are being held against their will? Something that never crossed my mind but that would make sense that they were not necessarily willing to sell their body. Other than more upscale options for a massage, how would one know ahead of time that this was occurring?

@Frankie A lot of women who work in these places are victims of human trafficking. They are told that they owe them money before they can leave and then pay them next to nothing for their work.
