Unfortunately, there is a real need f for another east west artery to 149. The population in the rear of The Woodlands and the Magnolia area has significantly increased. Everything is being funnelled down 2978 to 2920. The grand parkway will certainly make a difference but there will only be more growth in the area and you still have to get to the grand parkway which you pick up near Boudreaux road if you take the back way. The extension is not popular because it gives greater access to our community and tends to make the parkway a pass thru but as our population grows, we probably need to have options to facilitate mobility.
We have a 6 lane Woodlands Parkway now. How many lanes should we consider? Let them widen 1488 to the north. Along with Grand Parkway to the south, that should add plenty of access east to west.
All of that area across from The Woodlands on 2978 will someday be some type of development. It is inevitable! Think about what is going on now at Kuykendahl every morning and night with people trying to get into and out of The Woodlands. Am not positive but I have heard that we have more people working in The Woodlands now than we have residents here.
I'm not sure the Woodlands residents have to undertake having a major highway running through the middle of it. If easy access is wanted, live closer in. I can see the monetary value of living further out, but that easy access solution shouldn't be put on the ones having to pay the higher costs.
Those who are already far out have their routes to get around in place already. Those who are buying in the new areas know the roads currently available for them and shouldn't expect the Woodlands Parkway to come to their front door.
I see enough questionable vehicles using Woodlands Pkwy as a pipeline to the trailers. My wife's vehicle was already sideswiped by a guy loaded up on pills and booze mid-day on his way back to Pasadena from Magnolia. (7th offense!!!!!) They're also usually the ones doing 75mph in a vehicle that shouldn't be going over 55mph.
Reading the Villager shows town hall meetings are being held, everywhere but in the Woodlands, garnering support for the extension. Noack, up for reelection, is AGAINST the extension. Mac Sanders s a new entry running against Noack. Sanders is FOR the extension . Remember the names and vote accordingly.
