I am urging you NOT to wait until a child is attacked or another animal slaughtered before you ACT!

I am your neighbor who is missing two beloved animals because: Deputy Tony Madison, who had knowledge for 3 to 4 months, did NOT give us notice of an influx of wild animals: COYOTES, WILD BOARS, BOBCATS, & WOLVES.

This is a safety issue thus, we must have IMMEDIATE NOTICE, so we have an opportunity to protect our loved ones, not notice 4 months AFTER THE FACT!

Here are the CHILLING FACTS (that you don't know):

▪️ After my 2 cats went missing the Deputy came to my home and stated: He noticed an influx of coyotes and bobcats at least 3 months ago when The Woodlands Development Co. cleared hundreds of acres on Sawdust Rd, which brought all the wild animals here. Reasons he gave me as to why no notice was immediately given to residents:

1st story : Association was supposed to send notice 3 months ago but "forgot".

2nd story : It's his responsibility to send notice but he just "didn't get to it."

3rd story : They aren't going to do anything until a person is attacked.

▪️ Deputy said more dogs and cats called in as missing and later wild boars were in a mans yard.

▪️ I informed Deputy that a resident on S. Tranquil Path emailed that a coyote got into her back yard through a GATED FENCE to greet her daughter.

▪️ I notified Deputy and many others that a coyote was on the property of an elementary school.

After each incident, I notified Deputy and others that NOTICE must be sent to the people of Grogans Point NOW!! Still NO notice was sent by the Deputy, our Grogans Point Association, their board or other agencies. We want full disclosure not a community that keeps things hush, hush.

Deputy called me regarding:
immediate notice on safety issues and stated "I stand by my decisions. If it happens again I'll do the same thing" i.e. wait 4 months after the fact to send notice. Is this acceptable to you? Why do we have the same security people here for over 15 years? Shouldn't it go out for bid every couple of years?

ALTHOUGH YOU DONT KNOW ME, IVE BEEN LOOKING OUT FOR YOU FOR MONTHS AND NOW I NEED YOU TO HELP ALL OF US!

Please contact the people below and tell them that you think about these facts and that you demand immediate notice on all safety issues that involve your loved ones which INCLUDE YOUR ANIMALS!

Thank you and God Bless,
Donna Giannattasio

Thank you for responding. Would you send your message to the folks I listed in my letter? It would help us if they heard your opinion that they should have sent us notice ! Also the problem here is so out of control & dangerous and we need these agencies to step up and stop passing the buck. They need to round these animals up or hunt them. This is not our normal population. We have hundreds of more wild animals because hundreds of acres were bulldozed . Thank you

Oh please - it's not reasonable to try to leverage the internet to browbeat your volunteer Village Association officers to try to agree to a ridiculous request.

We live in an area with enough green space to support some wild animals. It's not feasible to round them up because that's a short term solution - some will be missed and they'll just re-populate as this is their territory as much as ours. I certainly don't want people wandering around the villages hunting them down!

Over time the population will dwindle to fit the available territory - if hundreds more wild animals are re-locating, it won't take long for that to happen.

In the meantime, take appropriate precautions - don't let small pets or children roam lose without an adult.

I appreciate You taking the time to respond & help us! I share your concerns about the children. A lady called last night who was distraught. She said , I have 2 children that are two years old and I saw a panther etc. My husband & I built our dream house here & thought our family could live in peace but we are being terrorized by these animals & can't even enjoy our yard with our kids & pets. It's so sad that when you reach out for help the officials run & hide. No one will step up to the plate & say it's our job to help you folks. I contacted all of the following: our Association, board, the Sheriffs office, constable Gable, the Warden, parks & wildlife, the Woodlands Township etc. They all said the same thing: we don't do that but you should call so & so. The old pass the buck game. It's so sad! I fear that we're running out of time and someone, probably a child maybe viciously ripped apart!!! Thank God for people like You who care about us. I am disappointed in the lack of leadership here. I thought we could resolve this in our own community but I was wrong thus I have gone outside of here to ask for help. I just got a response from a news station that is interested in helping us! Thank God!! Perhaps help is on the way.

Please note that we feel like we are being held hostage by these wild animals. When families & their pets can't go in their own yard to play because there in fear something is very wrong. Families did not pay all this money to live out here to become prisoners and not be able to enjoy their own property! Everyone of us have the Constitutional right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.Thank You!

I am pretty sure awhile back I got a Woodlands Alert about coyotes. This is something you expect living out here, that's why it is recommended you don't leave your animals out at night. I'm not a prisoner. I have seen and heard coyotes at night, I still enjoy my neighborhood and yard.

I have been in the Woodlands over 20 years. I know that everyone knows their are coyotes, wild pigs etc. I don't know anyone who is afraid to go in their own yard or neighborhood.

I hope you folks and your pets stay safe. Can you imagine the wildlife released here after approx. 500 acres have been bulldozed ! It's just out of control!

Last October while on an early morning bike ride, a coyote jumped from the median of Lake Woodlands as I passed by and chased me for about a tenth of a mile. This was my second encounter in the same general area in a two week period, the first seeming to be more coincidental with a half hearted pursuit. The second encounter was while traveling west on Lake Woodlands, a couple hundred feet east of the entrance to Shadowlake. With my earlier encounter and the limited pursuit, I initially simply increased my cadence. Next thing I knew, the coyote was running next to me. That's when I blew through a few gears and pedaled like it mattered. The coyote gave up when I hit about 30 mph. I ended up with two hyperextended knees.

I called the township and was routed to a parks dept employee voice mail. Left a message and never got a follow up call. I'm sure they got a few chuckles. Called the MCSO, not in their wheelhouse. Routed to MC animal control and gave up on that phone maze.

While I'm not worried about getting seriously injured by a coyote, I'd prefer not to be bitten by one and have to go through rabies treatment. Really not too worried about the two lone female joggers I encountered/warned within the next half mile that were running toward Shadowlake. My main concern was that the animal was located at the western edge of Shadowbend Park and the only mortal coyote incidents in the last decade or two have involved small children.

I guess it is good that the township has finally issued an alert regarding wildlife encounters. That it provided no detail of any specific incidents was disappointing but par for the course for The Woodlands.

THANK YOU FOR SPEAKING UP! It's people like you that make a "difference"!' WAKE UP WOODLANDS & stop hiding your head in the sand. The Woodlands has gotten a reputation for being the HUSH, HUSH community. They are intentionally hiding information from The People! They are directly responsible for putting us in harms way and should be held accountable. I've read your post over & over & all I keep thinking is: what would have happened if you fell off your bike during the chase ?

What are you talking about? I am beginning to understand why the people you contact tend to ignore you.

The Woodlands published an entire webpage on the topic - www.thewoodlandstown ship-tx.gov/Document Center/View/4336

"Hushing up" is not the same as "accepting the inevitable fact that in a community with a lot of green space will be a home to various wildlife including coyotes and we will not entertain nonsensical suggestions such as residents asking us to achieve the impossible such as irradication of naturally occurring wildlife".

Give. It. Up.
