Yes motorbikes are dangerous, but so is a regular bicycle which so many people in The Woodlands often ride (including myself). This was a tragedy and hopefully drivers will become more aware of two-wheel vehicles and we all have the right to be on the road. Prayers with this young man's family and I hope this accident brings much awareness to The Woodlands community about safety. As our roads are becoming more and more congested and people's frustrations seem to be increasing due to the heavy traffic, traffic laws must be obeyed, cell phones put down, and an intense awareness about runners, cyclists, motorcyclists that are sharing our roads must be observed.
I have watched bicycle riders not obey the rules of the road. I have nearly hit them because they run red lights, or they pull up in between cars and put themselves in a dangerous position.
I read two articles that said this particular accident was because the motorcycle rider did not yield ROW. Sometimes the motorcycles are also moving much faster than the speed limit and they are hard to see. I nearly pulled out in front of one the other day because he was moving so fast, one minute he wasn't there and the next he was, yes he was speeding and yes he had the right of way. But had he been going normal speeds he wouldn't have appeared out of nowhere.
I have also watched bicyclists and motorcycle riders weave in and out of traffic.
