I used to work with a vet who used to actually advise clients to buy Cavaliers because she knew in time their decision would most likely generate better than average income for the clinic. MUCH of what this woman did was (IMHO)very questionable. That particular place also would not offer free first time exams for shelter dogs (which I had suggested) because the owner (another vet) didn't see a point in attracting clients with pets who had already been s/n! Then in the same conversation another employee mentioned puppy mills to which the owner replied "puppy mills are simply seen in a negative light due to conflicting views on animal walfare."
I could MAYBE see the point on shelter dogs IF the practice was VERY busy. The point of running ANY business is to make money and even though his statement still wouldn't be PC it would make sense from a business perspective. However, the place wasn't busy AT ALL and it would cost nothing for a Dr to get off the internet and give a free exam and possibly sell some ear meds or whatever.

Sorry for the rant...its just annoying.

mutts make the best dang dogs in my experience.
how ever Bree (our Great Pyr.) is causing doubt as she is great and not any mutt in her that I am aware of.
OK, except for the chewing our bed spread part (on our fourth one now), but we all have faults.
