Future Employer
Dear future employer:
Honor, courage, and commitment; these core values have been the measuring stick of my entire working and academic career. As an employee in your organization, I will continue to uphold these same values.

My experience as a United States Marine has allowed me to grow as a leader and mature into and extremely effective helper. My experience as a program director and therapist has allowed me to help clients deal with major depression with suicidal ideation and improve family understanding of different maladaptive behaviors. I have improved the lives of others by coaching, mentoring and counseling them on life skills and work/life management. These skills have molded me into an effective counseling professional.

In March of 2008, I graduated from Columbia College with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a 3.61 GPA. In August of 2010, I completed graduate school with a Master of Arts in Counseling with a 3.66 GPA. I am currently enrolled as a doctoral student pursuing an Ed.D in Counselor Education. I have worked in a mental health facility since November of 2009 where I have facilitated psychoeducation groups, process groups and conducted individual and family therapy. I am confident that my practical experience, skills and knowledge will contribute to the current and future success of your organization. I look forward to meeting you soon to discuss my future as a member of your team.

Sincerely,

Roderick J. Smith, MA, LPC-Intern
